Obama attempts to placate Gay supporters - are they stupid, as well as gay ?

Last night at a fundraising dinner,

President Obama obviously was trying

to ride both sides of the fence regarding

the promises he made to the militant

gays during his campaign last year -

"President Obama, struggling to keep promises he made during last year's campaign, renewed his pledge to end the military's ban on openly gay service members as he appeared at a fundraising dinner for the nation's largest gay advocacy group on Saturday night. I will end 'don't ask, don't tell,' "Obama said at the Human Rights Campaign dinner. Recounting the ongoing effort to bring full civil rights to gays and lesbians, the president said: 'I'm here with a simple message: I'm here with you in that fight.'"

So why do I wonder if the gay's are deeply stupid ?

Because despite their cash contributions, and despite President Obama's rhetoric, he hasn't done anything to advance their cause. His administration openly defends the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) as well as 'Don't ask, Don't tell'.

But more importantly, I wonder - why do the liberals give him a pass ? If this was a Republican President, and he didn't do anything he promised, there'd be an outpouring of criticism, from his own party.

Any ideas as to why he doesn't have to be accountable to his own base?
