'Birthers' still after President Obama

President Obama may have one less problem to worry about.

A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit that claimed Obama is ineligible to be president because he isn't a U.S. citizen.

I've read the claims that supposedly his paternal
Grandmother claimed once to have been present
at his birth in Kenya, but who knows what she
was talking about.

The lawsuit represented the claim by the so-called "birthers" movement that Obama was not born in Hawaii - despite a birth certificate to the contrary -

In a 30-page ruling, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter of California said his court lacked the jurisdiction to rule on a case intended to unseat a sitting president.

I thought this was settled long ago -

BILLINGS GAZETTE is true to form

Today in the Gazette, what started
out as a 'Make Sure You Vote' column
ended up as just another plug for
the candidates the Gazette endorses.
~
Typically, they always pick the most liberal, the ones who'll be the quickest to raise taxes and fees, and if neither one fits the bill, they'll first go for the sure-fire winner, or to the lesser of two evils according to their needs.
~
I've criticized them for years for this, because it's always a 'Gazette Opinion'
~
If they had the guts, there'd be names under it. But I have yet to see Steve Prosinski take credit for an endorsement. Why ? Because then the editorial board would have to look their neighbors and co-workers, and subscribers in the eye, and be accountable.
~
Would that be so bad?
~
I have voiced my support for Dick Clark, and I am proud to have done so. But his opponent, Tom Hanel is a good candidate too. Either one will make a good Mayor. Either one of them will be worlds better than Tussing, or Tooley were, and typically the Gazette wouldn't endorse either of them. But lacking a more liberal candidate, they chose Tom, and I don't know why, and I can't ask anybody, since it was THE PAPERS opinion, not a persons opinion.
~
So tell us Steve, how did the vote go ? Was there a vote among your editorial board ?
~
Who was present when the endorsements were made ?
~
Was there a dissenting opinion?
~
Come on Gazette, to use a little Montana Slang, Grow a pair, and be accountable next time.

Raiders 13 - Eagles 9

My beloved OAKLAND RAIDERS
have won another game - in a
surprise upset over the
Philadelphia Eagles.
~
If they can stop the
reeling NY Jets this weekend,
it'll be the beginning
of a winning streak - 2 games
in a row.
~
Are the Raiders not really as bad
as they appear ? No, they
really are that bad. They can't run the
ball, Russell can't pass the ball,
or even keep control of the ball,
and their defense has been soft.
~
Unless they're playing the overrated Donovan McNabb I guess, who's jersey got soiled yesterday as the Raiders defense was in the backfield almost as fast as the ball was.
~
Will the Raiders beat Mark Sanchez and the Jets this week?

Get a brain - America has enemies

Normally, over at the
liberal blogs, you can read their
posts, chuckle, and once in
a while put up a comment to
balance things. But this time,
I can't help but comment on one
of Bob gentry's posts.
~
~
"Imam Bray spoke of the responsibility we all share to personify the hope kindled in President Obama's election, itself a temporary deflection from a path of mutual destruction, but one that now demands our continued vigilance and effort to embody real change. "
~
Why doesn't the Imam tell them his religions real opinion of President Obama?
~
Under Islamic law (sharia) an apostate like President Obama must be put to death, unless he has a mental disorder, or converted to Christianity under duress. I suppose President Obama could argue that he was under duress, the duress of pursuing a political career in America.
~
The Muslim extremists hate Israel, America, non-extremist muslims, and every other non-muslim in the world.
~
Except for the liberals over at LITW, who participate in their political circle-jerk over there. The muslim extremists are at peace with them.
~
That's nice, isn't it?

Obama policies affecting Governors races in New Jersey and Virginia

It appears that the luster
has worn off The Great Leader,
the Messiah, The Protector of
the Poor, President Obama.
~
In New Jersey, Governor Corzine
is slipping behind his GOP rival in the
polls, despite the 'help' of the Obama administration.
~
And in Virginia, R. Creigh Deeds (D) is also floundering, and despite his pleas for help,
the Obamas aren't doing much for him. Maybe they're writing this off. Or, maybe they know that if President Obama appears it'll assure the seat to the GOP.
~
Good. President Obama is finally getting scrutinized, and we'll see how it ends up.
~
I predict both seats go to the Republicans, which will be a bigger 'Jap-Slap' to President Obama than the IOC laid on him.
~
If you were a candidate, would you want to be associated with President Obama ?

Do you think we're not affected by Obamanomics ?

I was just reading an article
saying that unemployment
will break the 10% mark in
the USA next year.
~
That'll give President Obama
the distinction of creating
the longest depression since the
Great Depression.
~
Congratulations Barry. Here's the link:
~
~
And it's affecting Montana too.
~
We're not in the league of manufacturing States like Michigan, but our unemployment is steadily rising.
~
When you drive down I-90, between the exits, you see an awful lot of construction equipment just sitting, don't you.
~
I'd tell you how many layoffs that has created, but I'm not going to, because it isn't commonly known, but it's a lot.
~
Is this the time to raise energy taxes, and slap on new taxes for a health-care bill ?
~
No. Is Obama ignorant of how business works, or is this by design?

Is there a blogging community in Montana ?

I was over at the liberals blog (LITW), and I ran across an interesting blog exchange between Wulfgar and Mark T. Here's the link:

http://www.leftinthewest.com/diary/3519/rehberg-loves-the-limelight-troops-and-veterans-not-so-much

Now, I am familiar with both of them. Years ago Wulfgar figured it out that the 'Troll under his Bridge' was Mark T., and they've never stopped going at each other.

In this post I linked to, it was mentioned that over at Mark T's site, he doesn't have a 'community'

So I started wondering, do any Montana blogs have a community ?

I guess it depends on the size of the community.

Years ago, the Billings Gazette blog 'City Lights' had a community - and if Ed hadn't decided to close up shop, like I did, he'd probably have the biggest blogging community in this 1/2 of the USA.

In '06 when I started up 'What's right in Montana' I'd sometimes attract 100 comments a day - but it wasn't really possible to figure out who was who because I allow anonymous comments.

So just for fun, I went through many pages of LITW posts and comments, broke out a notepad, and started writing.

I've decided that they do have a community over there. Not counting the posters, like Jay Stevens, Matt Singer, Yellowstone Kelly, and the other posters, or moderators, they have a community of about 25 people commenting over there - including myself.

That's not too good, considering that it is 2009, and that Montana has a population of 900,000 plus people. But considering how few people even know about the blogs, it's not bad either.
In the last two weeks since I started up again, I've only had a few comments.

I installed a hit counter, so I can count the lurkers, but all-in-all, the blogosphere is pretty dead.

Will the blogs ever compete with the newspapers? Maybe I guess. Maybe not. What do you think - are we really a legitimate form of media ?

Giants 44 Raiders 7

There is no joy in
Mudville today, as
my beloved OAKLAND RAIDERS
were pounded by the NY Giants
44-7.
~
The game really wasn't
that close.
~
What's it going to take to revive this reeling franchise?
~
Al Davis to sell the team ? (It should be a bargain)
~
If you look carefully at the picture I put up, it's a picture of Al Davis, and a picture from the movie 'Weekend at Bernies' where they dragged a dead man around for a whole weekend and convinced everybody he was still alive - see any resemblance to Al Davis ?
~
Which one do you think would have a better chance of bringing Oakland back to playing at a competitive level ? Al, or Bernie ?

Obama attempts to placate Gay supporters - are they stupid, as well as gay ?

Last night at a fundraising dinner,
President Obama obviously was trying
to ride both sides of the fence regarding
the promises he made to the militant
gays during his campaign last year -
~

"President Obama, struggling to keep promises he made during last year's campaign, renewed his pledge to end the military's ban on openly gay service members as he appeared at a fundraising dinner for the nation's largest gay advocacy group on Saturday night. I will end 'don't ask, don't tell,' "Obama said at the Human Rights Campaign dinner. Recounting the ongoing effort to bring full civil rights to gays and lesbians, the president said: 'I'm here with a simple message: I'm here with you in that fight.'"
~
So why do I wonder if the gay's are deeply stupid ?
~
Because despite their cash contributions, and despite President Obama's rhetoric, he hasn't done anything to advance their cause. His administration openly defends the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) as well as 'Don't ask, Don't tell'.
~
But more importantly, I wonder - why do the liberals give him a pass ? If this was a Republican President, and he didn't do anything he promised, there'd be an outpouring of criticism, from his own party.
~
Any ideas as to why he doesn't have to be accountable to his own base?

Blogs Dead ?

The blogs are
pretty quiet.
~
Or maybe nobody
know's I'm back.
~
So I installed
a counter, to
see how many
visitors I'm getting.
~
We'll see - is it
dead, or is everybody
just lurking ?

President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

In ab obvious attempt
to influence US politics
President Obama was
awarded the 2009
Nobel Peace Prize.
~
For what?
~
His aspirations, and promises.
~
Will it help him, or hurt him politically ?

The World admires President Obama - NOT

If you look at the globe, about as far away from
the USA you can get is Australia -
~
Here's what they think of The Messiah,
The Great Leader, The Protector of the Poor,
President Obama:

I think he is the right man for the right time. He has vision, he seems honest. And I think he will make the world love us again.

Those are the words of A.J. Otjen,
liberal educator, talking about
President Obama. She has decided
to run as a Republican, against
Denny Rehberg.
~
She's about as much Republican
as I am a liberal Democrat.
~
She voted for John Kerry, as well
as The Great Leader President
Obama, has lots of gay
friends, and is pro-abortion.
~
Is this candidacy some sort of stunt, or joke ?
~
Does she think that every Dem in the State
might be willing to vote on the GOP ballot to
try to oust Denny ? Because I honestly don't
see her getting even 10% of the vote in a GOP primary.
~
Repubican In Name Only (RINO)
~
Am I being too harsh on Professor Otjen?
~
Nope - here's a link to an interview she gave - make up your own mind -

Obama has a big week

As my title says, The Great Leader, The Messiah,
The Protector of the Poor, President Obama had
a memorable week.
~
Unemployment in the USA hit a 26-year high
level of 9.8%
~
The funny thing is that he earnestly told us that if his stimulus spending bill wasn't rushed through that unemployment might hit 8%.
~
GM (Obama Motors) officially lost the SATURN brand of cars this week as well, when the Penske Group didn't have enough faith in the economy to buy it from the struggling automaker.
A lot of soon to be unemployed coming from that one too.
~
Obama did meet for 25 minutes with his top commander on the ground in Afghanistan though, after it was revealed that he hadn't seen him in 3 months. (We've got troops over there it seems)
~
Another funny thing, is that when he was campaigning, Obama also earnestly explained that the fighting in IRAQ was taking our attention from the important war in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and that he would win in Afghanistan first.
~
And the biggest thing this week, was going to Copenhagen, a day after Michelle Obama and Oprah, to use his charm, and charisma to convince the IOC to have the 2016 Summer Olympics in Chicago.
~
The couldn't turn him down, after all, the world loves Obama, he's got that rock-star, celebrity status. He's acually kind of President of the world !
~
Until the first ballot, when they eliminated Chicago. I guess the goat-herder story doesn't interest them anymore, assuming it ever did.

President Obama jap-slapped by the IOC

jap-slap - definition from the URBAN DICTIONARY

"A strong slap given out of annoyance or meanness which leaves the recipient slightly dazed and confused. From the Malay phrase "penampar Jepun" to describe harsh treatment by Japanese soldiers during the Malaysian occupation of WWII. "
-
The IOC is obviously racist. After all, the worlds leading citizen, The Great Leader, The Messiah, President Obama went to Copenhagen himself, to tell the IOC to have the Summer Olympics in his hometown of Chicago.
-
CNN reported that "Michelle Obama stole the show !"
-
It was a done deal. Oprah was there even.
-
Then, on the first ballot, Chicago was eliminated.
-
On the first round.
-
What happened?
-
Since any criticism of Obama is considered racist, I assume that all the white Europeans who voted against him are bigots, unable to accept a black President -
-
What do you think of this newest failure?

Oct 1, 2009 - Game, Set, & Match - Smokers lose

Well, as of 12:00 am last nite, or this morning, depending on
how you look at it, it is now illegal to smoke in public bars, restaurants, and casino's in Montana.

First, I don't smoke. I never have, except for a little bit in
High School, in my youth.

But I couldn't care less if you want to do it.

I voted against the smoking ban, and I'll give you my reasons for that:

(1) Tobacco is a product that is legal to grow, own, possess, and smoke.

(2) If you have a bar, or casino, and want to cater to smokers, I feel that it's your business decision to make.

(3) I don't like the agenda of the anti-smokers. It's not about public health. It's about enforcing their ideas on others.

I personally think it's unenforceable, as I remember when Helena passed the law, it was ignored by most establishments.

However, since the voters here are willing to vote away others rights, it really doesn't matter what I think about it, it'll just give us something to analyze.

Whaddya think? Is the smoking ban a good thing?
